Is Population Growth problematic?

The following pie charts show the results of a recent public survey conducted in the US. As you can see a large proportion thought that Population Growth is a serious problem currently but that proportion grew substantially when people were asked about their view of the future.
What do you think?

  1. Well... that's pretty self explanatory. It also might say something about how people always assume nothing bad will happen in their lifetime...

  2. I agree with caroline, that the graphs are self-explanatory. I also find it interesting that "people who believe that population growth is a major problem now" is only 39% compared to 57% for "those who think that population will become a major problem." I think this is a noteworthy gap.I have said this before and it proves again that people are not so worried about population growth as of now, and still believe that the population can somehow still be supported. Also, noting that that 57% do believe that population growth will become a problem; I see it as a sign of hope, needless so say, if that number was true for the first opinion, it would have been even more brilliant and hopeful!

  3. I agree with Syed that this gap is eye catching. But I do not see this as a sign of hope. To me it seems as if people are continuing to delay changing their lifestyle until population becomes an even bigger issue.
